Haiku – Holiday

Loving family,
caring thoughts, great holiday:
cold, arid Ayres Rock.

Haiku – Detergent

Lime green detergent,
essentially slimy,
creates squeaky clean.

Sonnet – The Computer

To liken thee to a Nightwish new CD,
Thou art symphonious as when time began:
New hard-drive treasure from my spending spree
And most refreshing whirr of cooling fan.

Though old age has no force against the wind,
Thou carriest on in every circumstance.
Though anything that harms you is a sin,
Thou never crashes when we do take chances.

Thy processor, outdated by an age,
Will be replaced by faster, fresher versions,
Thy dial-up speed in loading any page,
Still fosters text light/photo based aversions.

So, welcome, Mac, the olden days are over,
It’s for the best, PC’s are out in clover.

So many things,

So many material things.

How much do we really need?

Focus these days,

Just seems to be on money.

What good will that do?

It won’t keep you warm,

It won’t hold you tight.

It can buy you a house,

For all those other things you have,

But it can’t buy you family,

The most important thing in the world.

Would do so much better if it rhymed. Perhaps if I had more time…

Pathetic attempt at a poem. I think my muse went on holidays. He didn’t leave me a return address either, or a date when he will be back. In the mean time, you will just get mroe filler like all those old essays.

It’s that time of night,

When the entire world is still,

And you’re the only one awake.

Sometimes, it’s like you’re the only one alive,

The only one still breathing.

What was that sound?

What was that noise?

Is it in my head like everything else, all those thoughts, and those hallucinations?

I want to escape, I must escape again.

Just let me return to the oblivion in sleep.

I can deal with all the bad dreams there.

Sleep, sweet sleep, come back.

I don’t want to be alone.

Is anybody out there?

Can anyone hear me screaming?

I can’t cope with the cruel real-world,

All it brings me is endless pain and misery.

All those disappointments, those broken dreams.

Everyone lets me down, hurting me on purpose, most of all you.

Why don’t you listen?

I call, I scream,

I’m asking you for help.

Please. Anything to make it stop.

His legs are painted black and blue

His eye is swollen, bottom lip huge

His face looks beaten and his ribcage bruised

His fingers are thin and nails ice blue

Others of his own age

But when its time to leave

I’d like to think that something is out there,

I’d like to know that someone cares.

The death-toll grows dayly,

Even as the birth rate grows.

No need for Dante’s inferno,

People lie.

There is no place left for God,

He has abandoned us.

Left us to our own devices.

The world blurs then steadies,

And I can feel the sweet colours

Exploding fast inside my head.

That’s the hardest one I ever took.

Combining of drugs and fun,

Where did life go so wrong?

When I can get off on pain,

Not just others but my own.

Begging, pleading for more,

I need my next fix: or else.

The explosions in my head,

The surrounding brightness.

Suddenly, the pain stops.

The world is going black,

I float far above my body.
